2011 Martin Luther King Kickoff Classic

Welcome
A special thanks to all the teams, coaches, officials and parents that make this event possible.  It is our hope that this weekend events will meet or surpass your expectations.  A special thanks to everyone from the Lancaster area for their work and support in making this event happen. This was a big but necessary step for us 

Important Notice
All camping areas must be kept in designated areas and in the bleachers.  Please, remember to keep your area clean and pick up all trash and debris when you leave a court or gym.  Extra garbage bags are available from the staff.  Only water will be permitted in the playing areas

Tournament Format
This year’s competition will involve 63 Pools 18’s, 17’s 16’s 15’s and 18 pools in the 14’s and 13’s . Pool play will begin on Saturday at 8am and will proceed through 8pm that night. Another round is schedule for Sunday followed by Bracket play on Monday. It is our goal to have the Monday session wrapped up by 5pm. It is very important to follow the grids and pools throughout the tournament.  TO ENSURE CORRECT POOLS FOR THE NEXT ROUND PLEASE CHECK WITH CHAMPIONSHIP DESK AND SIGN OUT.

Match Protocol
All Matches will consist of best of three matches with two – 25 and one – 15 if necessary. We will of course follow USAV rules for all play.

Work Teams
A paid certified official will be assigned to all matches and both up and down officials will be provided for all gold round semifinals and finals in all divisions. Teams scheduled for a work assignment must provide a competent down Ref, competent scorekeeper, 2 lines people and a flipper/libero tracker. A coach must be court side during the entire work assignment in case of any problems. Failure to have an entire work team including the coach will result in a point per minute for every minute you are late. This penalty will be assessed on your next scheduled match. On Monday please check the schedule carefully for work assignments. Some teams will be required to work the 8am match and then play at 9am. We are not responsible for missed work assignments. Please check with Championship Desk to verify .

Athletic Trainers
There will be paid athletic trainers on site at Franklin and Marshall, Lancaster County Convention center and Conestoga Valley HS. These trainers will be available starting at 7am to wrap and prep players for the day. Please be sure to provide your own tape.  These trainers will travel to other sites for emergencies. Ice will also be available at all sites. In case of any emergency please send someone to the championship desk at your venue, They will have the contact info for the trainers.

Tie Breakers
Two - way ties will be broken as results head to head.
All Three - way ties will be 2 single games to 15.
Seeding for the tie breakers will be point differential over the entire pool.

Warm Up Procedures
Warm ups will be 2 – 4 – 4 for all matches throughout the tournament.
Time will start at the end of the previous match. The first two matches of each wave will begin on time after that they are all ASAP.  Warm up consist of 2 – minutes of pepper your side both teams, 4 – minutes of hitting serving team, 4 – minutes of hitting receiving team. There is no serving time, teams who want to serve must do so in their 4 minutes.

Pool Play Results
At the end of each pool the coach must sign the results board to verify the standings. If there are any conflicts report them to Championship before signing the board. Remember to check the schedule for the next round work assignments, some teams do have to come in early to work the next pool

Awards
1st and 2nd place individual awards will be handed out in all divisions of each age bracket, plus first place trophies for the Gold Champions

Play Schedule –  for 18’s 17’s 16’s and 15’s pools
13’s and 14’s will play the 3 team pool schedule without the reseed matches

The first two matches of a wave are on the hour scheduled after that they are all ASAP. Please do not leave the courtside expecting to have a long break when the previous match may go quickly

All ages except 13’s and 14’s whose wave will start at 8am, 11am, 2pm and 5pm

Saturday and Sunday Waves will begin at 8am
Saturday and Sunday Waves will begin at 2pm 

14 and under play schedule will be posted within the pool and bracket play
